This Pokémon themed group is designed for autistic children aged 6-12 years old, with a maximum of 10 children in the group. Led by Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Developmental Educators and Allied Health Assistants, the program focuses on supporting the development of social skills, motor skills, communication and language skills. Participants collaborate on challenges such as obstacle courses, quizzes, problem-solving tasks, fine motor activities, and learning tasks to foster teamwork, interaction with peers, and skill development.
Aims of the group:
Learn about different social communication preferences, e.g., talking about shared interest, initiating conversations, etc.
Explore different types of play: parallel, constuctive, physical, social games with rules, etc.
Support the development of self-advocacy within social interactions e.g., suggesting a game to play, or taking turns in an activity.
Engage in a variety of sensory and motor skill activities e.g., obstacle courses, fine motor activities, and sensory play

Time: 2 sessions available: 9am - 12pm (6 - 9 years) or 12:30pm - 3:30pm (10 - 12 years)
Location: Autism SA Netley (1/262 Marion road, Netley SA 5037)
Duration: 3 hour session and 30 minutes non face to face
