Autistics’ Guide to Adulthood – National Advisory Group Members

Autism SA thanks the original National Advisory Group Members and content contributors of the Autistics’ Guide to Adulthood for being so brave and bold in sharing their experiences and insights. Your contributions shaped a resource that continues to support autistic adults across Australia.

As the needs of the Autistic community evolve, we know it is time to update and expand the Guide so that it continues to reflect the lived experiences of autistic adults today. To do this, we are re-establishing the National Advisory Group. We are inviting back existing members who did such an outstanding job, and we are also seeking new members to broaden the representation of the group.

Who can participate

We are calling for autistic adults who: 

  • Are aged 18 years or older

  • Live in Australia

  • Have, or consent to get, a National Police Check (NPC)

  • Are passionate about sharing their experiences to support other autistic adults

We strongly encourage expressions of interest from people who:

  • Identify as disabled/ a person with disability

  • Are from CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) communities

  • Are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

  • Are LGBTQIA+

  • Are younger (18–24) or older (65+)

  • Live in rural or remote communities

  • Have co-occurring conditions

What is the Autistics' Guide to Adulthood?

The Autistics’ Guide to Adulthood is a self-paced online life-skills resource to guide people on the autism spectrum in navigating adulthood. The life-skills modules that make up Autistics’ Guide to Adulthood are free, and accessible through a secure, engaging online learning portal. The resource aims to provide information, tips and insights from autistic adults to guide users toward achieving personal goals.

Co-design process

This resource has been co-designed with autistic adults, community stakeholders andand the project team. Through the establishment of a new National Advisory Groups, we will update and expand the Guide so that it continues to reflect the lived experiences of autistic adults today.

Honorarium

Involvement is through voluntary participation for which an honorarium will be offered. Your involvement can be flexible to meet your needs.

This opportunity is for any adult in Australia identifies as autistic / on the autism spectrum.  


Eligibility for participation

We are seeking expressions of interest from autistic adults who live in Australia, have, or consent to getting a National Police Check (NPC) and are passionate about sharing their experiences to support other autistic adults.

Thank you for your interest, however your answers indicate you are not eligible to participate in this project.

Commitment

The commitment is until June 2026 and includes:

  • Attending monthly committee meetings (online)

  • Working with a group of autistic/on the autism spectrum people to review and create module content

  • Completing co-design surveys pre, during, and post engagement

  • Following a Code of Conduct

Based on the availability of the majority of the members a time for monthly meetings will be chosen.
